Para cumplir este objetivo La Fundación desarrolla las siguientes áreas:

Cuidado del paciente

The Society is committed to improving current patient care for those afflicted with Pulmonary Hypertension by providing partial monetary assistance for treatments. The Society also aims to provide assistance in developing and implementing therapies to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. Many of the treatments are very cost intensive and so it is the Society's objective to assist as much as possible with the provision of these treatments in a cost effective manner.

Educación

Pulmonary Hypertension is still a relatively unknown disease. It is therefore important to improve the level of awareness and education about the disease. It is necessary to educate the medical profession to improve early recognition and treatment of Pulmonary Hypertension. Public education is also important in order to stimulate public funding for the Society's mission. Most important of all, education is needed for newly diagnosed patients and their families to help these groups better understand the nature of the disease, including transplant awareness, and the implications of living with Pulmonary Hypertension.
 

Antesala ante el gobierno

The government plays a key role in the health care of all Canadians. Therefore, it is important to lobby all levels of government to increase government awareness of the disease, increase health plan coverage of treatments, accelerate new drug trials and approvals, and obtain funding for PH research initiatives.
 

Asistencia

It is not the Society's intention to research treatments and cures but rather to provide funding and assistance for those conducting research. All funding is done through a standardized mechanism to ensure funds are effectively and efficiently allocated. Funded research will be regularly monitored in terms of focus and progress. Research funding will be considered for worthwhile pursuits and providing insight into new and improved treatment techniques as well as potential cures.
